Aidone and Morgantina

Born between the end del'XI century and the beginning of XII by immigrants lombardi accompanying Normans, Aidone has a rich history and deeply entwined with the crucial political events in Sicily. Important for its exceptional location in the heart of the island, was a city of great cultural vitality, has an interesting old town, with a wealth of architectural and artistic impression distinctly medieval, and testimonials to the late  '700 and '800.

Morgantina

Located in the City of Aidone and a few kilometers from the center of the town, the archaeological site of Morgantina is considered the most important archaeological discovery made in Sicily. Large conurbation of a thriving Greek Polis, the finds from excavations in the ancient city are on display at the Archaeological Museum of Aidone.
